Upon hearing Beethoven

once, i had a vision:

her head, on my shoulder

my hand, on her back.

A shed of tears,

A sound of comfort.

A secret admitted,

A promise betrayed.

That tree was a witness

and its silence was bare.

The sky was the judge,

and the verdict, becoming.”

The vision betide

Now just a glimpse,

Now just a past,

Now just a distant memory.

(The sky has now judged.

 The verdict, befallen.)

Again, I had a vision:

her head, held up high

my hand, waving bonjour.

A dash of cheer

The sound of laughter

The secret kept

The promise insured.

No tree was witness

And silence will tell

The sky was no judge,

No verdict too certain.”

The vision betide

Now just a glimpse,

Now just a past,

Now just a distant memory.

………………….for a certain creampuff………….thanks for everything! =)

Oppression…(a random thought)…

Oppression….I wanted to write something about oppression for the longest time, but never seemed to find the right time for it. anyway, I feel now is the perfect time. No particular reason though, I just thought of it randomly.

Well, the thing with oppression is that, its always a 2-way thing: Oppressing and being oppressed, and often times both can ocurr within one entity. Its torture, really! You being the oppressor of yourself which up with you oppressing other people.

Why does one do it? Perhaps, there’s something very addicting about it. Its like a drug, it consumes you, but then you end up being more oppressive, as a result, you oppress yourself more. Its like an imposing force. You impose something on another person because you think it unfair that its only you being oppressed. Well, I’ve got good news for you, buddy! Its not just you being oppressed. We are part of a chain reaction where each one of the 7 billion people in the world is involved. The moment one craves for power and recognition, that is the moment where one oppresses. When one oppresses himself, it always shows. He almost always oppresses another. ITS ALL ABOUT THAT!.

Is it vanity? ABSOLUTELY! Its about self-inflicted pain and self-gratification (i dont wanna use the M word anymore). ITS ALL ABOUT THE SELF. But then again, like with what arrogance does, it destroys you. What happens when oppression stops? The world will cease to exist. In the world we live in, there is always that brute force which implores us to be somehow, oppressed. OPPRESSION IS REALITY.  —Dec 10 2010, 12:44 am

15 facts on dreams

Journal entry 1 - Random blabbering on musicology..

Journal entry 1 - Random blabbering on musicology…

Who knew music can be so diverse a topic that it can be viewed with an actual “scientific” process?
Well, thanks to musicology and its ever evolving state, music can and has been translated and related to different fields: History, sociology, psychology, etc. with this relatively new field of study, that is musicology with its ambiguous state of being, we have come to discover different perspectives to view music in many possible contexts.

What sparked my interest though is the branch of musicology which is Ethnomusicology. This is basically where the music of different cultures come to be put into the foreground. I believe that ethnomusicology is essential in discovering how different cultures lived, well, together with anthropology, that is. Or, it can even be very helpful in recognizing that a certain culture actually existed or is existing.

Well, I am a proud Igorot hailing from the cordilleras, and I am confident to say that ethnomusicology has indeed helped to put the cordilleran traditions to the foreground, especially its music. Unfortunately, I have noticed a certain flaw in this field of study. That is, that it has brought up a lot wrong data about the culture.

Perhaps, the ones who studied my culture had not fully understood it yet. Well, nobody can blame them if they didn’t really know, but it would be nice to correct them. The cordilleran culture has a lot of layers in it that most times, it’s difficult to reach the core.

But, generally speaking, musicology has opened a lot of possibilities for music. Its study has now become an “artistic science”, so to speak. We might not know it yet but our curiosity about music might just make us a musicologist ourselves. We never know. =)

Domino Effect

Isn’t it that when you slave yourself setting up the dominoes one in front of the other is because of the fun and satisfaction you get out of it when you let everything tumble down? It lasts only about a few seconds, but then again, one in front of the other, you set up the dominoes again, this time, bigger and more complex, eagerly thinking of the satisfaction you’ll get when you watch your set tumble down in ruin. Admit it, its fun!…So that got me thinking, why is the domino effect seen with such a negative context when in fact having to watch a stack of dominoes tumble is fun?

I always try to look at the domino effect as a trigger, a trigger to start something better. Those dominoes didn’t tumble without purpose. It tumbled because your goal was achieved and you set it up again because you were eager to create something bigger and better, something more fun! It tumbling down is a sign that you have achieved your goal!

But, what if it tumbled because of a wrongly positioned domino?….Chances are, you redo it with more care. Rarely have i seen a person give up because of that “wrongly-positioned-domino”. He wont give up because he still thinks of his goal. The fun and satisfaction he’ll get when he finally gets to finish and make his dominoes tumble is his conviction.

Same is true when you make decisions. Look at the dominoes as the decisions you make. One wrong decision tumbles everything down. But when you start to redo it with a lot more thinking, focusing on your goal, you end up being satisfied to let your dominoes tumble. Then later on, you begin with another more complex and more fun goal.

You see, the domino effect is a cycle. But it can only happen when you setup your dominoes correctly.

So, when your dominoes tumble, ROCK ON!

i cant remember how high an altitude we were, but then the temperature outside the plane was enough to make some icicles on the window. COOL!.

Arrogance drags you down,
slowly and surely
it drags you down in a pit you yourself are digging.
you wont realize it until you’re trapped
and the dirt you’ve dug out bury you alive.
You’re sinking, running out of air
The whole world comes crashing down
on you, the person you pretend to be
but as stubborn and arrogant as before
you dig even deeper, deeper still
until you wont recognize yourself anymore
you keep a constant lie
and you won’t admit it
until you disappear
on an endless cycle toward oblivion.

It all starts with arrogance.

But to save yourself is up to you
remember that humility pulls you up
it unravels the small grain of honesty,
that which lie deep beneath the skin you wear.
humility nurtures honesty
it kills all lies, the trickery you have put yourself into will vanish
as if in a dream, you rise above yourself
and you wont even realize it

But until then, you’re trapped.
